Mumbai sits on the west coast of India and is home to the iconic gateway to India and the heart of Bollywood. Requirements for renting a motorbike in India
To recap the following are things you will need to rent a motorbike in Mumbai.
You need a valid international driver’s permit, as well as your domestic license. Your rental may rent you a bike without seeing it but you will not be covered by insurance and could be fined if stopped by the police.
You will also need a form of ID either your passport or Adhar Card
You’ll need to leave a cash deposit for your motorcycle and present your passport /air ticket ( or other transportation) to the rental company. Make sure to keep your personal paperwork as you will probably need them along your trip eg when checking into a hotel, and to get a receipt for your deposit.
You will also need to check if you require local permits. In these areas, you cannot bring a motorcycle rental in from another region although with many rules of the road there is often a way around this.

Travel tips
Make sure you check the bike out before you take it away from the rental company. Make sure to look for any damages, point it out, photograph it even so you can’t be blamed later. It’s also worth taking a small ride to make sure the bike is running smoothly. If during your first ride you notice anything wrong after you’ve left the rental company, make sure to contact them as soon as possible.
Next, it’s good to know that motorbikes can travel on trains. If you want a break from touring, or short of time why not just pop your motorcycle on the train, just like a bicycle. Just remember to empty the fuel tank first.
Finally, when you rent a motorbike in Mumbai, make sure you know your agreed terms and conditions. This includes things like additional costs and any restrictions such as mileage limitations. Some of the most common are; fuel; it is often not included in the rental agreement and the tank will be empty when you get the bike. It can also include pick up and drop off times, and break down or service agreements.
