How Book2Wheel’s Car Sharing Service Is Expanding in Vietnam

Many people have been asking how Book2Wheel, a peer-to-peer car and motorbike sharing platform, is expanding in Vietnam.

The answer is simple: it’s happening organically.

According to Book2Wheel founder Furqan M. Rathore:

“We focused on our beachhead market, the Philippines. We started with small scooters that had an average rental value of $50. Over time, we grew that to a $2,000 in sales.”

Originally, the name “Book2Wheel” was inspired by two-wheel bookings — motorbikes and scooters. But over time, the company naturally expanded into four-wheel vehicles.

“We never planned to enter the car rental space,” Furqan says. “But our existing users — rental companies and individual owners — began asking if they could list their cars too. We said yes.”

With just a few changes to the platform, Book2Wheel began accepting car listings. The demand quickly followed — not just for cars, but also for vans, SUVs, tuk-tuks, bicycles, and quad bikes. The platform has grown steadily by listening to users.

Growth by Numbers

In 2021:

  • 97% of bookings were for motorbikes
  • Only 3% were for cars

By 2025:

  • Motorbike bookings dropped to 56.46%
  • Car rentals increased to 43.54%

📈 A 10-Year Journey

“Ten years ago, I calculated that for the business to be profitable, the average motorbike rental should be $50–$70, and car rentals must average over $100,” Furqan shares.

It took a full decade to reach those numbers. The journey wasn’t easy. There were many challenges — criticism, setbacks, and even suggestions to quit and get a full-time job. But the founder persisted.

“This is the result of 10 years of belief, development, automation, marketing, and finding the right people.”

Furqan also credits friends, family, and early investors who believed in the idea and supported the platform both morally and financially.

🌏 Why Vietnam?

Interestingly, Book2Wheel did not launch in Vietnam through traditional marketing or expansion campaigns.

“We believe travelers who use Book2Wheel in the Philippines also visit other Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.”

The growth in Vietnam appears to be driven by word-of-mouth, traveler trust, and the simplicity of the platform.

Now, Book2Wheel even offers luxury cars and motorbikes in Vietnam — a sign of the brand’s growing reputation.
