In 2015, Furqan Rathore, the founder and CEO of Book2Wheel, was living in Cebu City, Philippines. One evening, he was invited to a welcome party for a group of Danish interns. During the gathering, one of the interns asked if there was a cheaper alternative to transportation in the Philippines.
Furqan quickly replied, “Why don’t you rent my motorbike?”
She agreed — and rented the motorbike for 6 months.
Encouraged by this experience, Furqan bought another motorbike. When the other interns learned that their friend was enjoying freedom of travel — and that the motorbike came with comprehensive insurance — they all wanted to rent one, too.
The very next day, more interns came to Furqan’s door asking to rent motorbikes. That was the beginning of what would soon become a motorbike rental business.
🔄 From One to Many – The Birth of a Platform
As demand grew, Furqan couldn’t keep up with the requests using only his own bikes. He asked his friends and neighbors if they’d be interested in renting out their motorbikes as well. To his surprise, everyone said yes.
That’s when the idea struck him:
“Why not create a website where anyone can rent out their vehicle?”
